Career Development Track

Today's workforce is constantly changing and many employees lack focus, understanding and motivation related to career development success. Career Span offers a unique approach for companies to assist employees in determining and reaching their career potential. We provide individuals the opportunity to assess, explore and develop career goals based on five major factors of career development success: personality preferences, skill set efficiency and enjoyment, interest patterns and personal values.

Career Span offers an individual career development track to assist clients one-on-one in attaining career satisfaction by setting goals and creating one, three and five year plans based on outcomes of in-depth assessment. This track is strongly recommended for:

  • Employees "burned-out" in current position
  • Employees who "don't fit" in current department
  • Employees who cannot articulate a future career path
  • Employees motivated to achieve higher levels of career success
  • Employees seeking to confirm a career choice
  • Employees who are transitioning out of their position

Career Span uses vocational assessments such as the Self-Directed Search, the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator along with inventories measuring values and skills. Using the acronym "S.O.A.R." we implement the four step process of career development:

S: Self-assessment
O: Occupational exploration
A: Actual decision-making
R: Resulting success

The career development track is designed for a client to move forward into actively pursuing a one, three and five year plan of increasing professional development opportunities while striving to reach career goals and increased productivity at work.

At the completion of the career development track each employee will identify the following:

  • Their skill set and positions that maximize their abilities
  • A personal career vision with a one, three and five year plan of furthering education and professional development
  • Description of how personality preferences, interests, values and skills influence satisfaction and effectiveness in their job
  • Targeted strengths and weaknesses affecting productivity with strategic plans to enhance their portfolio of assets
  • Effective career strategies to increase productivity in the workplace

Benefits to your company include:

  • Positive regard for company increasing morale
  • Placing employees in positions where they will succeed
  • Retention of highly skilled workers in strategic positions
  • Clear return on investment with highly productive employees
  • Higher productivity of workforce utilizing strengths and competencies
  • Overall increased level of satisfaction in the workplace
